I’m Courtney and I’m so glad you stopped by!

My hope is that this is place you feel welcome and find comfort. Kind of like the friend you can pop in on in your fat pants and feel no judgment (I know it’s more PC to call them yoga pants, but let’s call a spade a spade).

A little about me, I’ve been married for almost 14 years, have 3 kids, and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in nursing. In the past few years I’ve been stepping outside of my comfort zone and exploring my creative side. At the time I wasn’t sure I even had one, but as it turned out I began finding joy in writing. In 2014 I started a blog and in the spring of 2016, I self-published my first children’s book, Rooster’s Balloon. Later that same year, I published a Christmas book for children called The Forgotten Ornament. Writing has been an interesting process in self discovery and can make me self-conscious, fearful, and full of self-doubt. It can also make me feel alive, accomplished, and fulfilled. So depending on the day, you could be getting Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde.

I adore writing funny stories, especially ones at my own expense. I’m not an overly funny person, but you might catch some dry wit if you’re paying attention. The ridiculousness of life isn’t something you can make up; people are stupid funny and maybe just a little crazy, which makes interacting with them so fun! Relationships with people are also hard because everybody comes with their very own set of monogrammed baggage. Because of this, I also talk about hard things here. I talk about faith things here. I talk about God here. Without those last two things, to me, nothing makes sense. If I don’t look at this life through the lens of my faith, I would be overcome with the darkness of this world.

I don’t claim to have it all figured out, but at the very least, this is a soft place to land with questions, fears, and doubts about all the hard things.

Thanks for dropping by my little corner of the internet and I hope you enjoy your time here. Feel free to leave me a message in the Comments section or shoot me an email! Would love to chat with you!

Just a sidenote...

I’m a bit unconventional and send out Valentine’s cards rather than Christmas cards. This tells you 2 things about me:

  1. Christmas cards are too stressful for me.
  2. I’m a little weird.

I’ve even been known to be so late on our Valentine’s card that I had to make one side a St. Patrick’s Day card and the other a belated Valentine’s card. Again, weird. But it’s kind of endearing, right? So that’s me, weird but endearing. And in case you don’t believe me…
